Homemade Beef Burgers
Makes 6 or 8 depending on size
14oz (400g) fresh, organic mince
1 finely chopped red onion
2 finely chopped garlic cloves
1 egg, beaten
Use your hands to mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Then make small patties, depending on your preferred size of burger. Cook by grilling or barbecuing. Immediately freeze any leftover burgers that can be defrosted and cooked another day.)
Med tzatziki och grönsallad; eller med 1. Red onion relish (utan vinäger) eller 2. Coleslaw (se båda nedan):
Red onion relish
This goes nicely with burgers, or any meat, when you really fancy some ketchup or relish.
1 tablespoonful of olive oil
Three sliced red onions
Generous dollop of honey or agave nectar 2 tablespoonfuls of brown sugar
2 tablespoonfuls of water
Fry the onion in the oil or butter for a few minutes. Stir in the water and sugar and then add a dollop of honey or agave nectar. Cover with a lid and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring every so often.
Coleslaw
1 green or red cabbage
2 small carrots
1 onion
1 apple
Dressing: 3 tablespoonfuls of single cream (mellangrädde) or apple juice
1 teaspoon of mustard powder
Thinly slice the cabbage, carrots, onions and apple. Toss in a large bowl and if you wish dressing add the combined cream and mustard powder.
